how can i find out reduced level?

Reduced level is found in reference to a fixed level.... to find the reduced level at a point place a ranging rod or a graduated staff over the point.... now on the point where we know the reduced level (The Base point) place a dumpy level on tripod stand.... sight the staff and note the reading, x. if the base level is given as y... then the required reduced level is x+y
